Mini Medics - First Aid for Children
This is a very basic introduction to First Aid and Defibrillation for children.
The course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminology or language. The course content is matched to the child’s ability with educational and practical work - building confidence and instilling the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.
This flexible course is aimed primarily at:
• Primary schools
• Sports clubs
• Youth organisations
• Cubs and brownies
Intended Audience
The course is primarily designed for children between the ages of 8 and 11, but working with you are able to adapt it to suit children of any age
Assessment Methods
This is a non-regulated qualification and attendance is all that is required. Optional test/quizzes are available in the form of a worksheet if required.
Syllabus
We can adapt the syllabus to meet your needs, typical content can include:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Resuscitation
- Burns
- Assessment of the situation
- Anatomy
- Choking
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Minor injuries
- Epilepsy
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Bleeding control
- Shock
Delivery
3 hours dependent on the syllabus you want covered including educational, theoretical and practical teaching sessions.
Certification
We provide a printed certificate of attendance for teach child.
Resources
Each child is given a Mini Medic book and syringe pen
Other options
We can bring one of our operational ambulances with us to a Mini Medics session and include a tour and discussion of the vehicle
